We Love Visitors!
We want your experience while visiting with us to be stress free! So we have included some answers to the most commonly asked questions below.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
From the moment you arrive, we want you to feel welcome. You will be greeted by smiling faces, who are excited for you to be here. We would love to get to know you and see what we can do to help you!
Our Sunday services typically last a little more than an hour. Our services consist of a time of a cappella singing, communion and worship, as well as an opportunity to receive ministry and prayer.
In every Sunday worship service we observe the Lord's Supper (sometimes called "communion") which serves as a reminder of the sacrifice Jesus made for us. It includes passing a plate with unleavened bread (looks like a big cracker) and secondly a tray which contains little cups of grape juice. These are reminders of Jesus' body and blood. After the Lord's Supper the same men who distribute the communion will also pass collection trays for members to give to the financial support of the work of the church. Guests are not asked and should not feel compelled to participate in this collection.
During our worship service we sing several songs together as a congregation. You'll notice we do so without the accompaniment of instruments. We have song books and also project the songs on a screen. During the worship service, men will lead us in prayer with the congregation silently following the prayer. Near the end of our worship, our minister will present a Bible lesson.
A typical Sunday morning will begin with Bible classes lasting 45 minutes and our worship service approximately one hour. In between, we allow time for everyone to visit, grab some coffee, and make their way to the worship service.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Don't worry about it. You'll see people in jeans, dresses, pants, ties, and t-shirts. You will feel welcomed, and you'll fit right in! The main thing we'd love for you to bring is an open heart. If you have a Bible, you can bring it, and if you don't, we can help provide you with one.
WHERE SHOULD I PARK?
We have parking lots available on both sides of our building. So there is always plenty of parking available for you!
WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
Western Hills Church of Christ has an amazing group focused on nurturing a fun environment for your children to learn about God. During services, we offer a staffed Nursery for infants and toddlers. Children's Bible Time is a fun Bible study for children up through second grade which occurs during the sermon time. You can enter at any of our main building entrances and have easy access to our children's ministry areas. Once you enter the building someone will direct you to a classroom for your children.
WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE?
We believe in quoting scripture so, "There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called—one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."
(Ephesians 4:4-6)
