Finally, our new website is up and running and we have this new blog site that Gary and I are supposed to fill with encouraging, insightful, instructive, educational, and spiritually nourishing information to help you in your spiritual journey.
What? Who? Me? All of the sudden, putting something down in writing that may be preserved forever somewhere out there in the “innerweb” is somewhat daunting. (Now I know why ”blogsters” prefer to be called “influencers”. Blogsters sounds like a bad Halloween costume.) But then it gets even more overwhelming. Who am I to try and influence anybody??
But in my daily Bible reading, the same theme keeps popping up, over and over. The fact that Jesus wants us all to be influencers. We all have the responsibility to have a positive interaction with those we encounter, no matter through what method. He says that we all are to be:
- The light of the world, a city that cannot be hidden – Matthew 5.14
- The salt of the earth – Matthew 5.13
- Shining like stars in the sky – Phillipians 2.15
- A royal priesthood – 1 Peter 2.9
- An example – 1 Timothy 4.12, Titus 2.7-8
- An answer – 1 Peter 3.15
That is an awesome responsibility that we all share, so as an “influencer,” I should have a lot of company! So . . . I will be looking to all of you in the coming weeks and months to share with me your ideas, to make contributions of your own to this blog, to even ask you to help keep me on track with our purpose for being, to bring the lost to Jesus, to make disciples for him and to build up one another.
So, pull out your old Smith-Corona, Apple IIe, Compaq 64 or the old reliable Big Chief tablet and pencil and write down and share with me ideas of how we all can be influencers for Jesus right here at Western Hills!
