Have you ever wondered what it will be like to stand in the presence of God? In His radiant glory? Will His love be something we literally feel as it courses through our glorified bodies?
Do you remember after Moses cast down the Ten Commandments and the tablets broke into pieces? God told him to cut two more tablets and come up on the mount the next morning (Exodus 34). After Moses went up the mount, he was on there for 40 days and 40 nights and he ate no bread nor drank water. Basically, a forty day fast. But something else occurred from Moses being in God’s presence. When he came down off the mount, the skin of his face shone radiantly. The word “shone” in the original Hebrew language means “to shot out horns,” or “shooting forth rays of light.” The children of Israel were terrified and ran from Moses’ presence. I think we would run, too, if a man appeared with his face shining like high beam head lights. Thus, Moses put a veil over his face to cover the radiant glory from being in God’s presence. In heaven, do you think our faces will reflect God’s glory?
We are not told how our bodies will be; but, in I John 3.2, we read, “Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He [i.e., Christ] appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.” Paul says, through inspiration of the Holy Spirit, that as of now, we do not know how we will appear in heaven. But when Christ appears, we are told that we shall be like Him. In the book of Revelation, when the apostle John described the holy city, he said, “And the city had no sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb” (Rev. 21.23). John said God’s radiance was so great that there was no need for a sun or moon to provide light. Wow! Can you imagine God’s glory being so magnificent that it lights the whole city. John describes the city as twelve thousand furlongs in length, width, and height. Twelve thousand furlongs is 1,500 miles. A city that is a 1,500-mile cube and God’s glory lights it all?
I cannot wait to stand in God’s presence. Do you dream of doing the same?
