Good morning, WH family. Can you believe the “dog days” of August are over? We have been
blessed with a milder summer this year indeed!
We are beginning our Family Life (FL) small group meetings on September 21st, so we need to
get the sign-ups started. The new FL groups meet on Sunday afternoon or
evening, the 2nd through 4th Sundays of each month. This session, we have 5 options to choose
from:
Group 1: Meets in the fellowship hall immediately after services for lunch and a bible study.
Group 2: Meets in Les & Deatra Keele’s home, at 1pm.

“Why should I join” you may ask.
Spiritual Growth: Family Life groups provide a setting for deeper Bible study, prayer and
discussion. Members can ask questions, wrestle with scripture and learn to apply God’s word
better in their lives.
Deeper Relationships: In large groups, it is easy to feel unseen. Family Life groups enhance
our feeling of a family relationship, enabling members to go beyond surface level friendships.
The members learn to laugh, rejoice and even weep with one another. The group fosters trust,
support and encouragement.
Mutual care and Support: Needs are often noticed and met more quickly within a small group. Prayer support, meals, encouragement, acts of service and expressions of love are enhanced in small groups, truly living out the “one another” commands of Jesus.
Opportunity to serve and lead: Group members can learn and use their individual gifts in
practical ways, through teaching, hospitality, encouragement, service etc. Participation allows
everyone to contribute, not just be a spectator.
Outreach and witness: FL groups provide a warm, safe, welcoming entry point for seekers,
neighbors or friends who may hesitate to attend a formal service. The hospitality in a home often
leads to gospel conversations and sharing of what God has done for us.
Personal transformation: Transformation happens best within a community; “iron sharpens
iron.” (Proverbs 27.17) Gentle, but firm accountability challenges members grow beyond our
“comfort zone.”
I hope that you will prayerfully consider and join one of our Family Life groups. I know
you’ll
be blessed! – Les Keele
