Don’t Give Up!
When the weight of the world presses hard upon us and hope feels so far away, God whispers,
“Don’t Give Up! “We’ve all been there—at the point of exhaustion, staring into the fog of uncertainty, wondering if our next effort is even worth it. Whether it is a prolonged illness, a broken relationship, a financial crisis, or a spiritual drought, the temptation to give up can feel overwhelming. But God’s Word doesn’t shy away from these moments; it takes us there.
Do you remember after Elijah defeated the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel? Queen Jezebel threatened to kill him. Elijah fled in fear and collapsed in despair. “I’ve had enough, Lord,” he cried. But God didn’t rebuke him—He sent rest, nourishment, and a gentle whisper. Sometimes, what we need most isn’t severe rebuking, but divine tenderness. God is there to help us when everything in life seems hopeless. Like a loving father wanting to do everything He can to help his troubled child, God wants to do that for you, if you will turn to Him.
Do you remember how Paul pleaded for God to remove his “thorn in the flesh” (2 Corinthians 12.7-10)? Paul pleaded with God for relief, but God responded, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness. ” The thorn wasn’t removed, but Paul’s perspective did. Weakness became a doorway for divine strength. How often have you prayed for God to remove your struggles? Just like God said to Paul, He says to you as well, “My grace is sufficient for you. ” God’s grace is sufficient to carry us through every situation in life. The power of His divine message shines brighter as I remain faithful in my infirmity.
Even the Son of God wrestled with anguish. Do you remember Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, “Father, if You are will, take this cup from Me” (Luke 22.39-46)? Yet He did not give up. He surrendered. And through His submission, salvation was born. Jesus was willing to endure tremendous suffering realizing God’s grace was sufficient for Him as well.
Will you realize that you are not alone? Reach out. God put us into a Christian family for a reason—so we can encourage, help, and support one another. Thus, let others come to your aid to help you bear your burdens (Galatians 6.2). Don’t give up! Not now. Not when you are this close to the edge of something beautiful. The same God who parted the Red Sea, shut the lions’ mouths, and raised the dead is with you. He sees your tears, hears your prayers, and holds your tender heart in His hands. David said, “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the LORD” (Psalm 18.2,3) Will you let God be there for you? Gary
