Would God Give Me Up?
Do you think that God would ever just give up on you and stop trying to save you? I think the thought is very interesting. If I have been so obstinate in disobeying His will and have continually run after the world, would God let me go? Would God give me up or would I be walking away from God? When I read the Old Testament, on many occasions God turned the people over to their own wickedness and stopped calling for them to return. When Hosea prophesied to Northern Israel, he revealed God’s love for them. God was amazed at the more He called them to walk after Him, the more they went away and served idols (Hosea 11.2). Hosea chapter eleven pictures that there was a struggle on God’s part as whether to impart wrath or continue to show them love. Because they only desired to worship idol gods who were not real, God gave them into the hands of the King of Assyria. Northern Israel fell to the Assyrian army in 722 B.C. and were led away captive out of the promise land. God punished the entire nation.
