New Heavens And A New Earth
In the book of Isaiah, there was a prophecy given to the children of Israel about the coming of new heavens and a new earth. In Isaiah 65.17, we read “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come to mind.” It is a prophecy that a new age would replace the current one. It is symbolic of the Christian Age to come. A profound change is pictured so that the former ways will not come to mind, that is, the elements of the Mosaic system would not come to mind under the Gospel system. Imagine living under the Law of Moses with all its rules, statutes, and animal sacrifices. The prophet is saying, when Christ comes things will be radically different.
