“Blessed Be The God And Father Of Our Lord Jesus Christ”
After his greeting to the Ephesian church, the apostle Paul began his epistle by giving praise to God. He said, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 1.3). The very first thought he presented was giving glory to God. We often focus on the last half of the verse which says, “Who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in Christ.” It is humbling when we see how richly we are blessed by God in Christ Jesus. But Paul continues to list many spiritual blessings we receive in order that we would turn and praise God. It is thrilling to realize how blessed we are in Christ; but, in recognizing such, we should want to shout out in praise to God.
