What Does God Expect Of Me?
What does God expect of those who profess to be disciples of His only begotten Son, Jesus? As Christians, we all desire to live righteously before God. We want to please Him with the words we say and the things we choose to do. But what is God looking for in each of us? I think first and foremost the Scriptures teach that God is looking for our love. When Jesus was asked what was the greatest commandment in the law, He responded: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22.37). God desires our total devotion unto Him. To love God with all one’s heart means that God holds your affections over any other person upon the face of the earth. A man would be willing to give up anyone who stood between him and his God. Loving God with all one’s soul basically means with all one’s life. One is willing to dedicate his life in service to God, living for Him, and willing to die for Him if necessary. Willing to submit to all the teachings of God is loving God with one’s mind. To love His gospel and His love over one’s own decisions is the love of mind God seeks. God desires our love, the focus of our hearts.
