The Value Of Restoration
James, the half-brother of Jesus, wrote to Jewish Christians scattered throughout the known world due to persecution (Acts 8.1-4). He was aware of the severe trials they were undergoing for the sake of Christ, and desired to strengthen their faith. The entire letter is an attempt to cause members of the Lord’s body to recognize the ramifications of one’s becoming a new creature in Christ. Thus, James writes an appeal to the Lord’s people to seriously consider whether or not they are living as true disciples should. Since there is no distinction between Jews and Gentiles in the church today, the epistle speaks directly to us as well. James talks about the practicality of living a Christian life.
