Looking Out My Window
Look! Is that a Black-crested Titmouse? Wow! Is that a Carolina Chickadee? There’s a pair of Cardinals! The Blue Jays are very aggressive! I see a Bluebird, a White-winged Dove, A Downy Woodpecker! Oh, I have never seen a “Green” Jay. As the warmer weather returns so early in the year, some of the birds are beginning to appear around my birdfeeder. I could sit and watch them for hours. Oh, then the question comes up, “Does that make me a ‘birdwatcher’?” We used to joke as children that “bird watching” was definitely a sign of old age. It just appeared that many men as they grew older would all of a sudden develop an interest in birds. There would be binoculars, all kinds of bird identification books, multiple feeders, a variety of seeds for the preferences of the different bird species, unexpectedly appearing, just laying around all over the place.
