How Close Am I To God?
Do you ever feel like you are not close to God? Or, no matter what you do, you never feel as close as you want to be? We often sing a song by Frances J. Crosby “Draw Me Nearer.” The song asks God to draw the person singing closer to Him. There is a deep desire within Christians to be as close to God as possible. James, the half-brother of Jesus, said, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded” (James 4.8). It is our responsibility to make the effort to draw closer to God. A relationship with God is developed through a multitude of disciplines. The verse in James emphasizes the importance of confessing our sins, practicing humility, and immersing ourselves in scripture.
