“A Word Fitly Spoken”
The Proverb writer stated, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver” (Proverbs 25.11). I have always thought, “Boy, isn’t that right!” It is amazing what an encouraging word can do for someone whose spirit is low. Many people struggle with feelings of uselessness, depression, anxiety over financial problems, health, and the list could go on and on. It is also sad to say that when most people ask, “How are you doing?” that they really don’t want to hear it. The question is one of many pleasantries we as American people think we ought to say. But to listen sincerely and give a word of encouragement is truly a blessing to the suffering individual.
