Great Joy In Worship
Would you say your heart is filled with joy when you worship God? Do you enter the auditorium in great anticipation over what is about to occur? Does your soul swell with gladness as you sing praises to God? Some Sunday mornings I feel like my heart will burst in exaltation of our God. I get so emotionally charged that I know that I am in the presence of our Lord. Why just “some” Sundays? There are a lot of variables that affect my response. When everyone is singing out in praise, the sound down front is absolutely awesome! When people have their Bibles opened, or pulled up on their phones, it excites me. Some prayers just absolutely move me in what is being said. My worship is greatly affected by those around me. Do you think from your worship that you encourage others? That they can see the love you have for God on your face? But then, there are times when I struggle to stay focused. If I am tired, or if I am physically hurting, or if I am worried about one thing or another, it affects my focus on worshiping God. I get distracted from why I am here. Sometimes, I have to reign in my thoughts and “set my mind on things above, not on things of the earth” (Colossians 3.1). Then, I can make my experience in worshiping God an absolute pleasure.
