The Ascension of Christ
In the Acts of the Apostles, Luke tells us that Jesus appeared to the apostles for forty days after His resurrection teaching them about the kingdom of God (Acts 1.1-3). Then, Jesus took His disciples toward Bethany and ascended back to heaven where He sat down on the right hand of God. I find it so interesting that Jesus’ apostles got to see Him actually rise up in the air in returning to His Father. In contrast, several times Jesus would disappear quickly. For example, on the road to Emmaus, after Jesus broke bread and gave it to them, Luke tells us, “And their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him. And He vanished from their sight” (Luke 24.31).
