Focused On Jesus
Is your life focused on Jesus? As we mature spiritually, we should be becoming more like Jesus every day. Many people become complacent in their faith then stop growing. When we think about people bearing the image of Christ in the New Testament, one immediately thinks of the apostle Paul. Was Paul content with his life in Christ? In his desire to gain Christ, Paul stated that he continually desired to “know Him and the power of his resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection of the dead” (Philippians 3.10, 11). Even after preaching for many years, Paul still desired to know more about the power and strength available to Christians through the resurrected Lord. He also thought that no one could know Christ fully unless he shared in His suffering. Paul definitely suffered for the cause of Christ; he listed a tremendous number of hardships he endured while preaching the gospel (2 Corinthians 11.23-29). Through suffering for Christ, Paul came to understand more clearly what the Lord had suffered. In revealing his life in Jesus, he said, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (Gal. 2.20).
